Principal's Message

Dear Emerson Families,

As we come to the end of the 2024-2025 school year, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the ways you have supported Emerson Elementary. This was our first year with our new blended school community after school closures and boundary realignment. We have rebuilt our PTA, school community council, and cadre of parent volunteers. Community engagement and support continues to make Emerson a special place for students.

In thinking ahead to next year, we will continue our focus on student growth in literacy. We will continue our focus on the revised English language arts standards, student growth in reading, and writing like a scientist. We will roll out the Emerson Dignity Index, and continue implementing Zones of Regulation, mindfulness, and community circles. We want Emerson Elementary to address academic outcomes and social emotional development of our students. We are always working to move from being good to great!

Students, here is your summer homework. While you are enjoying your break, keep working on academic tasks. Read, read, and keep reading! This is the best thing we can do to maintain our skills. Find fun ways to include math calculation and problem solving in your daily activities. Science is all around us. Make observations and ask questions about things in nature we see every day. Write about your summer experiences. Keep a journal or write a letter to your new principal. Be creative! Most of all, enjoy your time with the people you love doing the things you love to do.

As I reflect on the eleven years I have been lucky enough to spend at Emerson, I think of how our school has evolved over that time. We have added the district special education hub, lost our International Pathways program, and changed our school boundaries. Through it all, I have enjoyed the community involvement, school events, and knowing our amazing students and families. I am proud of Emerson being recognized as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This is a well-deserved tribute to the outstanding teachers who have worked beside me at Emerson. I hope that I have left Emerson a better place for me being here. Serving your children as their school leader has been an honor.

Thank you to the Emerson community for your engagement this year. Attendance at our community events and support in classrooms is evidence of your investment in your children’s education. This reinforces my belief that our amazing students, families, and community remain the best thing about Emerson.

Get out there and share your awesomeness!

Happy summer,

 Ms. Reynolds
